GALAPAGOS (Phoenix)
Galapagos was formed in the Fall of 2003 and is devoted to performing longform improvisation based in strong ensemble work and characters & scenes rooted in truth. Our improvisation is often in the form of Harold, a structure and philosophy of improv developed by Del Close at ImprovOlympic in Chicago, the Deconstruction, the Armando, and include longform structures that we have developed ourselves. Whatever the specific form is, a single audience suggestion serves to inspire our explorations.

Masive is committed to improvisational theater as an artform, not just a vehicle for comedy. The human experience runs the gamut of emotions, and at Massive, they keep their options open to more than just the happy ones.

NORTHSHORE LOCAL (Austin)
Northshore Local will be presenting a montage of well-paced, playful scenes starting with a group scene opener. They vary the show with a combination of tag-outs, multiple-person scenes, split scenes, and walk-ons. At the end of the show, they bring back call-backs in full force. The main goal is to always make each other laugh and support choices no matter what in order to grow in this art form together.
We are young (heartache to heartache), we are fun (won't you take me to...funky town?), and we are ready to cut loose (footloose).

Formed in August 2008 as a ColdTowne student troupe, and under the direction Austin's finest such as Chris Trew, Bob McNichol and Erika May, Northshore has managed to stew together a “finding-and-heightening the-game” style with those necessary grounding elements (we don't forget our textbooks) to make a nice comedy gumbo. Composed of nine ColdTowne Conservatory graduates, Northshore merges diverse improv styles into one playful and fast-paced joy-ride. Scenes could include anything from big group musical numbers to a split-scene about divorce and insurance, exploring a wide world of characters from adorably precocious children to demonic accountants who just want to make friends. With such a large cast, the style and form is always evolving, and their energy and eagerness to explore new ideas is constant.
